What Are Fissure Sealants and How Do They Work?
Fissure sealants are a preventive dental treatment designed to protect your teeth from decay. These sealants are thin, protective coatings applied to the chewing surfaces of your back teeth (molars and premolars). The grooves and pits on these surfaces, known as fissures, can be challenging to clean thoroughly with a toothbrush, making them prone to trapping food particles and bacteria.
