Calculus Removal
When calculus, also known as tartar, accumulates on your teeth, it requires removal through a process called debridement. Our ultrasonic device utilizes high-frequency vibrations combined with water to effectively eliminate these deposits.
There are two types of dental calculus. Supragingival calculus forms above the gumline, appearing as yellow or tan deposits visible on the tooth's surface. Subgingival calculus, on the other hand, forms below the gumline, specifically on the tooth root within the crevice known as the sulcus. Due to its location, subgingival calculus is not visible to the naked eye and is typically brown or black in color.

Periodontal Treatment
If left untreated, gingivitis can progress to a more severe condition known as periodontitis. Over time, plaque can extend and grow below the gum line. The bacteria present in plaque release toxins that cause irritation to the gums, triggering a chronic inflammatory response. This response leads to a self-destructive process where the tissues and bone supporting the teeth are gradually broken down and destroyed.
As a result, the gums start to separate from the teeth, forming pockets between them that can become infected. With the progression of the disease, these pockets deepen, resulting in further loss of gum tissue and bone. Eventually, the teeth may loosen and either fall out or require extraction.
To address this condition, treatment involves a thorough cleaning of the tooth root surfaces. We will carefully remove plaque and bacterial toxins from the periodontal pockets by performing scaling beneath the gumline. This process aims to halt the progression of the disease and promote healing and restoration of the affected areas.
